Not exactly sure how this happened but apparently my boys (4 & 6) were messing with the driver side sliding door on our 2018 Odyssey Elite, came inside and reported that the sliding door no longer shuts all the way.
When using the automatic close buttons, the door will get within an inch of closing but then the car beeps 3 times and the door slides back open.
I inspected the driver side door and compared it to the passenger side door, it appears the latch on the driver side door is now stuck in a "closed" position and just bounces off of the u-shaped metal piece that it is supposed to latch onto when I try to manually close the door.
I can't find any way to get the latch back open so that I can close the door. I have tried the door lock buttons on the car and the remote, and tried manually prying the latch back open. I found an article describing a door latch reset cable, and pulled on that cable, but it did not seem to move the latch at all.
The car is not drivable now and this is adding a bit of stress to what is already a challenging time.. does anyone have a suggestion on how I might be able to fix this myself? I am really hoping I can avoid needing to have it towed to the dealership.
