I just depaxed my Ody and tried to remove PAX tires from rims so I can take the rims to scrap metal.

I tried sawzall on the tires (cutting side wall and tread) but the bead does not seem to come off.

Can anyone please share what is the best way to take the tires off the rims (including bead)?

TIA

A big pair of bolt cutters would probably do the trick. The bead is probably steel reinforced to help the tire stay on the rim when their is no air pressure to hold it in place.

Has anyone actually done it? I did some more cuts with sawzall and found the steel cable. I am not sure how a bolt cutter would fit in there - very tight space (groove in the rim). Seems way more work than I thought it would be based on some posts here. Would appreciate any help. My wife is totally "I told you so".
