I am really frustrated by my 2018 Odyssey. I bought the vehicle in Oct 2017. Few weeks ago, my key fob battery was low. Easy enough, I went to the grocery store and bought brand new batteries and replaced them. All was good, key fob was back operational again (locking/unlocking doors etc). However, after getting into accessory mode, engine won't start. Tried many times and no luck. Left the van alone for a week and eventually battery drained.
I called AAA and they gave the battery a jump start. Again, electrical systems were active but engine still did not start. Does anybody know why this problem would happen ? Is there a security code that prevents the engine to start ? Does the key fob need reprogramming and if so how do I do that ?
AAA guy didn't think the battery was dead. Could it be that the battery is older and don't have enough power the crank the engine ? It'd be weird if that was the case because everything was all fine just before the key fob battery change.
I guess the only option I have is to get the van towed to the dealer. I miss a good old physical key that I can use to start a car. It is ridiculous that this van leaves me in this situation that I can not even start it. Please advise if you have any wisdom to share.
Perhaps I should have bought a Toyota 😢
