Hello everyone,

My name is Dwayn and I am with Autoforums. I have been talking to chiody and dvpatel and they are interested in upgrading to a newer software.

I am here to help if you have any questions. I saw that there are a few graphic designers on the site and was thinking of running a banner contest for a new banner on the site when we upgrade the software.

Let me know what you all think or if there are any other features you want added.

+1, though I'd come to "General Discussion" before I went anywhere else, I think.

I don't have a lot of time to click through each and every forum looking for new posts, so I tend to like all the info in one place.

If you want to make quick friends, change the name of the 3rd gen "05+ Odyssey" forum to "05 - 10 Odyssey " and add a new one named "11+ Odyssey ".

Do they pay the owners to post ads that look like posts or something?

It seems an awful lot like the bots that post lists of their wares.

I'm not trying to complain, I'm just used to seeing such content in banner ads or something.

One other thing I thought of that would be nice: no splash screen, just go straight to forums to save the click.

In other words, OdyClub.com should go to OdyClub.com/forums.

And so it begins.....the whoring out of odyclub. Posts containing the word "software" prompt a pop-up add for Norton internet security....The "subaru legacy" in nicomtl's signature prompts a pop up add from the carmaker, etc....

God, I love progress.

I always thought that was the great thing about odyclub. No advertising. It was also nice to not be bombarded with e-mails after joining. When I was sitting her thinking about psu ody's response, I had some "your opinion counts" pop up ad, and while typing this a norton security ad. Maybe where my mouse slightly went over something?

Is this the direction of odyclub?

The ads are provided by Vibrant, and they seem to allow you to disable them: I just did and it seems to work (Just click on the word "Vibrant" in the ad and click on the Disable tab on their web site.). We'll see how it goes and if they come back.

I understand the need for web sites to make some money: This is all free to us, but they have salaries/servers/bandwidth to pay for. Hopefully, our new overlords can find ways to make money without turning us off of Odyclub.

Wow, if that post (placed in the "General Discussion" section) wasn't spam I sure would like to know the definition of spam. At minimum it was blatant advertising in a non-advertising forum.

You know, I had to go search to find out what you guys are referring to, and I will say that I agree. From the buy/sell section, the agreement terms say
"NO Dealer advertisements of any kind without permission from me. Email me at [email protected].

Ads will be deleted after 30 days or so. If you want to keep your ad alive, post a reply to it.

OdyClub members can buy, sell or trade anything they want here, within reason.

Starting 2/25/04 - Members must have 20 posts or have been a member for 6 months in order to sell items. Please do not join just to sell something. Your ad will be deleted.

Starting 7/5/04 - If you don't have an interest in buying a given item, don't post comments in the ad. Your post will be deleted.

At one time, there was also a policy against "win an ipod" type threads. Maybe XenonDepot was approved by Jim, but the "win an ipad" thread in the general forum seems out of character for this place.

I don't really know that it will matter or make a difference now. Even the word "win" brings up an advertisement.
