You need to determine whether it's the battery or the alternator, or something else. You need a volt meter and set it to DC voltage (or direct current).
With your engine off and the hood up, it should measure 12.2-12.4 volts with a good battery. Anything below 12volt is not good for a battery.

With your engine on and hood up, it should read around 14.4 volts for a working alternator.

Make sure that your battery is 700 CCA (cold cranking amp) or better. Even with a dead alternator, your vehicle would still be able to start and run at least 50 miles or 1 hour with a fully charge battery with everything else off (NO Ac, fan, headlights, radio, charging outlets, turn signals, etc...)
