Clunking sound when shifting

I just noticed today that my '99 EX made a clunking sound when I shifted from Park. I was on the exit ramp of a public garage at the time and had the parking brake on. Should I be concerned?

It sounds as if your van was "hanging" against the park pawl in the transmission. When on a slope, it is best to put the van into neutral, while keeping your foot on the brake, and set the parking brake. THEN, release the foot brake and let the van settle against the brake. Once it has settled against the brake, you can put the transmission into park. If you do not do it that way, you often end up with the weight of the van bearing on the park pawl (the item which locks the transmission) and when you try to get the transmission out of park, you WILL hear and feel a "clunk". If you do this all the time, it becomes automatic and the "clunk" does not happen. Of course, if the "clunk" is from some other cause......
