2008 EX-L
232,000 miles
Vcm2 equipped

Current codes, per my Foxwell NT510:
P0154 “sonda lambda circuit no activity detected bank 2 sensor 1”

P0172 “system too rich bank 1”

P0175 “System too rich bank 2”

P0430 “catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 2”

Where do I go from here? I’d hate to drop a lot of money on such an old van….but I also do not want a payment.

Well it seems to be telling you that the upstream oxygen sensor is not functioning properly. I would remove it and clean it thoroughly. I would also listen for any exhaust leaks and vacuum leaks easily detected. If the cleaning doesn't work then I'd clean it again before replacing it with an OEM part. If you have any non OEM parts on the ignition, intake, exhaust emissions systems check or replace them with OEM parts.

The only non-oem part I have is the tube from the airbox to the throttle body

If you still have the original O2 sensors, then I would replace all 4 of them. NTK is OE sensors so get them from rockauto. Find the 5% discount code posted somewhere here on this site.

BTW, if you don't hurry up and replace your upstream sensors, the CATs will go next.

I also have non OEM tube from air box to throttle body. I took mine out last night and cleaned and reseated everything i also removed the air box. One of the screw fasteners was broken so I glued it back together to reseal it and all is good.

After resetting the codes and driving about 68 miles, the light came back on. This time, it gave codes p0172 & P0175 (fuel ratio too rich).
I cleaned the MAF; we’ll see what happens. (Do I need to clear the codes again or will they go off on their own?)

Before coming after the codes, there are a few things you need to do first.

Which sensors did you replace?

I don't believe in cleaning the MAF.

After replacing the sensors and cleaning the MAF, you are supposed to reset the PCM and do the Idle learn procedure. So, you are going to need a scanner with Honda software.
