Hi:

I need a 2 inch hitch for my bike rack. I will never tow anything using Odyssey.

One deal asked from $450 and other with $650. Lower is always better but I was wondering what is reasonable price for hitch only install.

Thanks

There are several threads discussing trailer hitch pricing. Search under "hitch" and read on.

Hitch Only Install
First dealer : $450 installed
Second dealer: $650 installed
Third dealer: First told me $800 then he told me that his service department will not install hitch without cooling issues due to warranty issues.

It is amazing how 3 dealers can have 3 different prices for the same product.

I needed the hitch only for my bike rack.

I went with the Honda hitch for carrying my bikes. It is a little bit more, but it sits up higher than a secondary market one because it is design with bumper cutouts in mind.

There are several threads regarding hitch (use search) to find, but this one is a good start because of the pictures.

$200-$250 unless you must have the one from Honda.

The aftermarket hitches by Curt ($160 on ebay delivered) take about 10 minutes to install with 4 bolts. The chassis on the Honda is already threaded to accept the bolts. It does not get any easier than that.

If OEM is a must buy it and if you are at all mechanically inclined try installing it. Like others have said not much to it.
If your still a lil iffy about it check out YouTube. etrailers has plenty of hitch install videos on there that show you step by step install. If all else fails you have to know someone that likes to tinker right? If you were closer I'd install it for you for a case of beer.

The aftermarket hitches are very simple to install, they just bolt right on. You really can't get any simpler. The downside is you don't have as much ground clearance as the factory setup. The factory hitch requires removing the rear bumper cover and cutting a notch in the cover. The factory setup looks better, is truly hidden and gives the aforementioned clearance but is pricey for only hauling a bicycle. Also, if you do not want any warranty hassles you need to install the factory AT cooler. If you have any transmission issues, a hitch and NO cooler they can deny your claim. You can argue that you only use it for a bicycle carrier but how do you prove it?
