I'm copying the following post from edmunds.com Odyssey Problems VII forum regarding "proper" installation of EX crossbar to eliminate wind noise:

495 of 501 Crossbar Wind Noise 2001 EX by edm85 Feb 28, 2001 (02:08 pm)

I just installed crossbars on my 2001 ex. I followed the instructions exactly, placing them at the marks on the side rail. I now have wind noise to the extent that if I can't eliminate it I will remove the crossbars and install them only when I need them.
Any one out there have this problem and how do you eliminate it or reduce it, short of removing them?

Thanks,

ED

If the cross bars are installed in the wrong direction with the trailing edge forward instead of towards the rear then they will make a loud noise. If you look at them they are alot like a wing on a plane and need to be installed with the more rounded side forward.Take a close look at them and see if you see what I am talking about. I know there is another distinction but I can't remember it right now. I will post again when my senior moment passes....

Thanks for the info on getting the crossbar nose in the right direction. I turned them around and the wind noise is gone.
Don't know why the instructions don't tell you to do that.
Thanks again.

Anybody else tried this on their Odyssey??

A FRIEND OF MINE JUST PURCHASED THEM ALSO AND AS THE DIRECTIONS SAID TRAILING EDGE BACK
NEITHER ONE OF US CAN GET RID OF THE WIND NOISE AND BOTH OF US KNOW BASICS ABOUT AERODYNAMICS ALSO WE HAVE CONNECTED A MACHINE SHOP OWNER WHO HAS DONE WORK ON RACE CARS AND DRAG CAR AND TO OUR SUPRISE WITH THE BARS NO MATTER WHAT WE DID THE BARS ARE SLIGHTLY TO FLIMESY (TO FAR OF A LENGTH WITHOUT SUPPORT) YOU CAN NOT GET RIDE OF THE WIND NOISE TO SUPRESS THE NOISE IT IS EASIER TO TAKE THEM OFF AND USE THEM ONLY WHEN YOU NEED

Mario,
On my cross-bars there was a small paper sticker that said "FRONT" and it was on the smaller, tapered edge of the bar which faced forward toward the front of the Ody. Evidently the factory has some misleading info.
I turned the cross-bars around as you suggested with the thicker edge forward like a wing and it got rid of the wind noise.
Thanks for the info.
