The A/C in my 2007 Odyssey started blowing warm air over the weekend. The dealer's service dept. wants $200 to simply diagnose the problem. They say they will recharge the Freon in the process. Is this a standard charge?
I would at least call and independant shop. I don't know about your area, but where I live I see signs for $39 system check, or $99 freon charge all the time.
When they recharge, they add a dye to look for leaks. Typically the only way to find the point of failure. So your paying for the recharge AND labor to diagnose.
Fair price? Well...its on the high side but about right for a dealer.
I just took mine into an independent garage and they charge $179 for the diagnostic check. I did have a coupon for $39.95 for an AC Check, which is different from what I had done. The Service manager did give me a break and only charged me $99.
Check to see if they have a coupon or if they'll match the price an independent garage would charge.
Turns out my compressor is bad and needs to be replaced!
