Now that we finally got some snow, I'll be looking to "desalt" my Ody carpets in the spring. I've protected the carpets with pant saver mats, and some loose replacement carpet, but road salt still gets on some of the exposed carpet.

The question is, what is the best way to do this?

Some ideas:

- one of those fancy steamers and some clean rags to soak it up
- a dilute vinegar solution
- some industrial cleaner ( which one? )

I've tried most carpet cleaners and they don't get caked on salt off. Detailing shops around here advertise the desalting service, so there must be a way...

Any better ideas?
