Destination & Handling Charge Increase?

My dealer says that the '02 destination & handling charge has increased this year to $540. HondaNews.com says $440. Anyone else hear this? Does region of the US make a difference? It's only $100 bucks but I could buy alot of Zaino for that difference!

Those things are usually contracted with the trucker unions, and are straight across the board. You pay the freight even if the dealership is next door to the factory. Or you pay the same freight if it's 3000 miles away.

Union people like to know exactly what they're getting.

That being said, freight is still $440 according to the pricing I got last Friday. If your dealer is trying to screw you, it won't last long; the freight is listed right there on the window sticker. (And because it's negotiated up front and is the same price no matter where in the continent the car was shipped to, that's how they *can* put it on the sticker.)
Mebbe the extra charge is to tote those extra horses and gears, Hee! Hee! (not to mention those tv sets 'n hides)

Howdy Folks,

Man 314,

Don't let them get away with charging you $100.00 more dollars ! I just talked to our salesman Bernie at " COUNTRY MOTORS " in Butler, PA.
MSRP is MSRP and freight is $440.00 period !!
We ordered our 2002 GG EX in June and they gave us fog lights, mud flaps and bug shield for MSRP. We are expecting delivery in September.

soon to be, a 2002 for you and me !

Let me understand, they sold you a 2002 EX for $26,750 + $440 Freight and gave you all of the add-ons for free? Or did they give you the add-ons at an MSRP (or at cost) rate?

They are trying to stick me with over $600 for fogs! They have said they would come down after I told them I could buy them for under $300 and install myself. I know they won't get away with extra freight since a previous post reminded me that it is printed on the sticker!

Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like you got a great deal!
