2000 Odyssey 167,000. This morning I went to start the Ody, turned over great but did not start. Took the VW to work instead, came home a few hours later...wouldn't start, tried a few times then is started and now all seems to be well.

What gives?

This was very similar to before I cleaned out the PCV ports etc. I had recently done that again because I was getting some misfire codes and I also installed a new PCV for good measure. Took a 10hr trip last weekend all was well until this morning.

Only kicker is at the beginning of my trip the dreaded P0740 reared it's ugly head. Only thing that seems a miss is it's not always shifting into overdrive. Or my foots to heavy, running about 2400 rpms at 80 mph.

Thank you,
Andy

3 places to look:
Bad key- try another when it happens
Bad main relay, do you hear the fuel pump run?
Bad ignition switch

There's a quite a few posts on these issues.

Thanks for the info Mike. So far I haven't had a problem since posting this. My money is in the bad relay because I recall not hearing the fuel pump last time it wouldn't start. How do I check it?

Thank you,
Andy
