Just wanted to say thanks to the forum for all the great info! Been lurking for a while preparing for some DIY maintenance on our 2013 EX-L

Did a 3x drain and fill with Honda DW1 fluid. Also replaced the plugs with NGK laser iridium and installed new Bosch brake pads.

Had Costco install new Michelin Defender 2s which ride really nice and handle great.

I installed VCM tuner 2 about 10,000km ago. Here are some pics. 130,000km on the van. Original plugs and ATF. Shifting is noticeably smoother.

Nice work! Those spark plugs don't look bad at all. :)

How many miles between each drain and fill? Approx.

I'm guessing very few miles. The fact the samples are all there, handy and available and ready to take pictures, suggests to me they were probably all done within a few days if not within a few hours.

I don't keep old oil around the garage any longer than I have to. Although I have to admit I have it very convenient in that a household hazardous materials drop off site is only about 10 minutes from my house.

That first drain-and-fill looks very bad. The other two are better but I think they probably should look even better than they do. A fourth D&F wouldn't be a bad idea after a few weeks of driving.

The drain and fills were completed same day, with some driving around in between to go through all the gears. Thanks for the input.

I'm with CroMath on doing another one after a few thousand or so miles.
It may just be just the lighting but that last one still doesn't look real new.
The idea behind letting the new ATF stay in the tranny longer , after it starts looking a little better, is to let the new cleaning additives do their job and 'slowly' clean out any varnish etc in the tranny, or so I've read in these forums.

Keeping that ATF looking new is one of the main keys of extending the life of your tranny, at least on the 2nd gen Odys.
Curious, was there any burnt type of smell with the first sample?
Either way, keep that ATF looking like new. Good job on changing your ATF and those spark plugs look clean and the color also looks good.
The gap sure looks large in the pics but it is probably all just the large size of the photo. Looks like the engine is burning cleanly.

I really like that good feeling you get from doing that type of vehicle life-extending maintenance, with the added bonus of a smoother-shifting transmission.
