Just received our 02 SS EX-L and am disappointed by the rattling power sliding doors. At low speed over bumps they rattle and drive me crazy. The 02 we test drove didn't behave this way, or did I not notice it?

Tried the 01 door mod, but there is only one adjustable receiver for the pin on the front of the door on the 02 (there are two on the 01s).

Anyone else have this rattle? It isn't the second or third row seats (happens with someone in our out of the seat).

There have been two pretty good threads on the subject:

www.odyclub.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000264.html
www.odyclub.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000740.html

To summarize, there are four things you can do beyond Chuck's slider mod:

1. Apply some silicon to the rubber gaskets on the sliding doors. This may help some.

2. Adjust the contacts on the door so that they hit the contact "receiver" on the door frame exactly in the center. (One of the links above describes how to do this.)

3. Make sure the rubber bumper on the lower back of the sliding door is touching the body so that the door isn't bouncing against the body of the van.

4. This one helped me a bunch: Move the latch in about 1/8 of an inch. This is also described in one of the threads.

After doing these steps, my door rattles are completely gone, even over rough roads and roads with very uneven surfaces.

HTH,

Greg

Also, remember to doublecheck that the rear seatbelts and harnesses are stowed in their storage positions. They can make lots of noises that sound like rattles near the doors. It's a stinker of a problem.

I know those rattles of those two middle doors well on my '02 Redrock LX.

The dealer put silicon on them which helped, but they are still there.

I will definitely be using your suggestions.

Many thanks.

I had the same sliding door rattle/squeak problem on my '02 SS EX purchased 10/01. I took the suggestions on how to correct this problem from the forum. I "floated" both driver and passenger side sliding door sliders. The key to my success was loosening the slider screws just enough for them to move slightly. Then I closed the sliding doors. Upon closing the sliding doors the sliders would position themselves in the "perfect" position. Once in position, I turned the screws down very very tightly, but not to the point of cracking the sliders. The funny thing though, I had to position/adjust the driver side slider down while I adjusted the passenger side slider up. Now and finally the doors don't rattle. I also heard my second row seats rattling and I used Chuck's rattle fix for them. Hope this helps.

I used silicone spray on both the sliding doors this weekend, and it appears to have eliminated the annoying rattle I was hearing. Relief!

I'm having door rattling problems ( and interior light flieckers on and off) with my 2000 LX and need some adjustment tips . I'll try some of the suggestions here .

But - The links to the old threads don't work me and the fototime links don't work either.
