The otherday I was driving with my wife, I parked the car and she got out to pick up something at the store, her window was rolled down half way and when she closed the door it rattled so much I thought it would break. Anyone else notice this or might it just be my van?

I think almost any vehicle on the road will do what you mentioned if the window is only down part way. Just have her shut the door more gently under these conditions...
