called honda to do a change of address and see why i havent received the egr recall, he said my VIN was 12 numbers higher than the cutoff, so my van must have the fix already applied (larger ports ?) FYI

so if you didnt get the recall notice, you may not have this problem happen

I did not realize there was a "recall" on the EGR problem. My understanding was that there was an extended warranty applied to that item, in case there was a problem. That is what the letter I received stated.

The real problem is not the EGR valve itself, but the port in the intake manifold where the EGR gases are recirculated. It gets plugged and requires reboring.

I've done the job myself. Takes about 45 minutes, and it's amazing just how much junk can build up in there. DUTCH

Yes, Dutch, I realize the problem is with the port plugging and I think I remember that the "fix" is a stainless steel sleeve, which lines the port and "might" make for less build-up than the cast surface.
