I replaced the front stock speakers from my 2002 ex-l with the new pioneers 1695 models and have been hearing a engine whine through the speakers. I removed the factory plugs and installed the pins instead of purchasing the adapters. Has anyone experienced this before? And has anyone noticed how long it takes to start their 2002 ody, I found that my engine cranks over for a few seconds before it starts. And how about closing the two front doors mine seem to not close properly. Is my doors probably misaligned?

I don't know anything about speakers, but I do know how finicky the starter on the 2002 Odyssey is. Sometimes it starts right up and other times it takes a 5 sec turning of the key.

Also, it's the rattling of the middle doors that drive me crazy. I have no problems with the front doors.

The engine noise through speakers might come from your alternator. Alternator output to radio power typically goes through a filter, but if this filter is bad the engine noise will generate electrical noise on your radio/cd.

It seems like a lot of owners have problem with rattling doors/windows of some sort. I too have problem with rattling window on driver side. The glass seems to be loose from its "holder" that I could rock it back & forth. I check the passenger side and it's pretty solid. My '01 Ody already had the slidedoor motor gone bad as well as the latching unit & control unit. I had to waste 2 days going back & forth with the dealers to get these things fixed... and I had to wait for the back order motor to come in. I still haven't had the rattling window fixed yet as it's not a matter of safety/convenience. I'll wait until something else goes wrong and bring the vehicle to the dealer to fix them at once rather making small trips. Honda really disappointed me though, especially for the almost-30K dollar car.

After looking at the previous browsers on this informative site I have hopefully fixed my rattle on my middle doors. I will have to try it next week when I take the same road to my other job site and see if I can hear the rattle again. As for the front doors they still don't close very well without some force, I have concluded that the air tight pressure within the cabin doesn't allow a single door that is open to close very easily as there is too much pressure within the cabin. I geuss in the summer I will leave a back window ajar to allow the air to escape. And for now I will just use more force to close the door. I feel that after owning two cars that has been built in Canada and the USA that the cars are still not up to Japanese standards for quality and craftsmanship. NO insults here but my other two cars from Japan was built with a lot of Quality and care. I have been able to compare a lot of japanese built and American built cars when I worked as a salesman for Toyota. There is a lot of diffrences within the two builds. Trust me they are alot better built in Japan!!
