While visiting relatives up in Ohio over Christmas something odd happened to my new 02 ODY. The van was parked outside in teen temperatures for about an hour or so. After starting the engine to warm up the van it just sat and idled for a couple of minutes and then to my surprise the engine just died. It started right up again but I have never had a new engine just stop like that. At the time there was about 900 miles on it. It has not done it since so I'm not real worried about it but it sure did scare me at the time. Anyone else have this happen?

I don't think it really matters if you had a LX or EX because they both have the same engine, but mine is an EX. I just think that it was the extreme temps that did it,well I hope thats all it was.

Sounds an awful lot like my problem last year. My brand new 2001 EX with 100 km on it was stalling while idling. Problem was very intermittent, but occured at least once a week. Sometimes it would hesitate and then catch immediately, sometimes it would stall out. It would not rough idle or cough or choke first...it would just quit. Problem was traced to a faulty PCM which was replaced. Not a stitch of trouble in 18,000 km since.

PCM stands for "Pretty Cool Module". It is what makes these little motors run so well, as compared to the carburetor, w/ sometimes working choke, days. Yes, they can be troublesome, but, I cannot imagine trouble with them occurs very often and, in the meantime, you can get into one of these things and drive off in cold weather and not realize the motor is cold. No coughing or hesitation, just smooth power. Enjoy the ride!
