With the doors locked, if you try to open the side doors from the outside or inside, the motors that control the side doors on my '99 EX turn on. Of course the doors don't open as one would expect. But I always thought this design was flawed. I think the motors shouldn't even come on at all if the doors are locked. I mean, in theory a stranger could cause the battery to drain, or cause the motors to overheat/burn out by simply repeatedly pulling on the handle, and the action wouldn't even trigger the alarm :). But on a serious note, it it a major nuisance when you really want to open the side doors (from either the inside or the outside) before they are unlocked, since you have to wait a few seconds for the motors to stop, unlock the doors, and then open them.

I'm curious if this design has changed in later models.
