HI All,
I've been having a problem with my 95. I replaced the exhaust manifold about 3 months ago ( the original was cracked ). A couple of weeks ago the collector pipe worked loose, so I tightened it. 2 days later it was loose again, and I noticed one of the stud holes was stripped. I removed the manifold drilled out the hole for the stud and installed a heli-coil. I re-installed the manifold using lock-tight on the studs and the brass ( bronze?) nuts that connect the collector pipe. 2 days later it was loose again. Has anyone else out there had this problem? Any solutions? I"m out of ideas on this one, and I need this fixed before I go back out to sea next month.

Anything like that gives me trouble I use two lock nuts with lock washers.

Locktite will probably melt off. Try these nuts. Honda where I live uses these self locking nuts:

They make red loc tite for high temp applications (450+ degrees) which works well for exhaust.

Thanks for your help everyone! I Went to the Honda dealer and bought the factory nuts they were very similar to the nuts one of you attached a picture of. I installed them with the high temp. Lock-Tite . My wife and kids are eternally greatful, they can't handle the embarrassment of roaring around town in the old odyssey with open pipes. I replaced the exhaust manifold with an after-market(chinese) manifold($150.00 cheaper). I think this may be the problem. The tapped holes for the studs that hold collector on are very sloppy, there's alot of play in the threads. When I removed the nuts the studs backed out and the nuts held tight (all but the one I installed a heli-coil in). So the moral to this long story is, it may be cheaper...and save much aggravation in the long run to buy factory parts. If this fix doesn't work I'm going to have to silver braze the studs in place. I really like this site and the feedback. I'm going to check in here more often, hopefully i'll be able to help out a little here and there. Thanks again.
