What are the present quotes or prices paid for 8 year Honda extended warranty?
Appreciate any feedback

$1500. Is this a good price?
No. About $200 too much. There are several good threads on the forum about this, but essentially the 8/120k, zero deductible is around $1300 from college hills, saccuchi, hyanis, etc. Some can't sell in CA. I know College Hills can as I bought mine from them. Dealer wouldn't come close to matching it.

How does the extended warranty work? Can you buy this over the phone from one of these dealers and will this warranty be honored at any authorized Honda service department? Do you have to buy it before owning the car for 3 months or 3000 miles?

reflection- Honda Care is extended coverage similar to your 3yr/36,000 miles warranty. It excludes wear items such as tires, brakes, rotors. You may purchase it online or over the phone from any of the 3 major dealers (Hyannis, College Hills, Saccucci) that offer the best pricing or you may get your local dealer to match or come close. Not many local dealers are willing to match. Honda will send you the coverage agreement that is valid at any Honda dealership. You can buy the coverage after you know the VIN of your new vehicle or within 6,000 miles of purchase. Prices on the coverage plans have gone up since May. I bought coverage yesterday from Hyannis for our Odyssey that was purchased in June. With all the electronic programs and sensors I thought it would make sense to purchase extended warranty; D62 6yr/120K. If you put 20K miles on your van per year no sense in getting an 8 year plan because you'll max out the miles on year 6; 6X20,000=120,000. Hope this helps.

As others have said$1500 is high. I got my 8yr/120k $0 deductible from college Hills Honda for $1300. They were very easy to deal with and yes Honda care is good at any Honda dealer. You also get roadside assistance for the duration of your Honda care as well. If you have another Honda or Acura vehicle you can sign that vehicle up for the roadside assistance too without an extra fee. The Honda care only would apply to your Odyssey but the roadside assistance would apply to all other Honda or Acura vehicles you own.

So you have to buy it within 6,000 miles of purchase?

Most other manufacturers give you until the last day of the maker's warrantee. True with my wife's Cadillac and my F150 most likely.

I believe it is a good idea considering all the electronics involved. The Cadillac's touch screen had to be replaced twice. They covered both new ones one out of warrantee. Good on Cadillac.

Seems like the earliest you get it the better the price.I recommend getting it before you reach 24k miles as after that the price seems to skyrocket. Also seems the price varies from dealer to dealer/state.. I just quoted Hondacare for my 2016 Odyssey Elite with 31,200 miles and my Texas dealer quoted $1980 for 5 years &120k miles... I am currently working in Virginia so I called a local Virginia dealer and they wanted 3800 for the exact same plan..:eek:

I called back my Texas dealer and purchased their quote.

The other major benefit to extended HondaCare is when you sell your vehicle to a private party....the remaining period & mileage of the extended warranty can be transferred. I've found that this puts buyer's mind at ease and helps getting your price - or close to it.

Among those three Honda care suppliers, which one gives the best coverage, benefits, and customer experience, if money is not a concern factor.
