Finally Changed Rear Shocks

After about 5,000 miles of hearing the rear bottoming out every day I finally changed the rear shocks on my ODY!! Still can't believe that the rear shocks only lasted about 28K/4.5 years. Well here is a pic the as you can see the one to the right (was on the pass side) was the problem child! It wouldn't even contract anymore! I replaced them with Monroe Sensa Trac #37288, got them from Amazon $34.99 each, no tax, free shipping!! Just finished test driving it, just like the day I picked her up! Right now am at 34K miles and 5 years with this van, and I have the extended warranty and I know I could of just taken it in and had it replace under warranty but and am hoping I won't have to use my ext warranty so I can cash it out at the end. But I will most likely use only if something major happens!

I replaced mine with Sensa-Tracs 3 years ago and they are still good. Actually lasted longer than the Honda OEM shocks. Don't notice any difference in ride at all. Been pretty happy with them so far.
Just got my ODY at 95K Miles... I am sensing that the original shocks and struts have never been replaced.. as they are OEM parts on there..

My general stance has always to replace with OEM... But after reading your folks comments I wonder if this situation is one where OEM is NOT Best.

so I ask for comments of which Brand to go with? OEM VS. Monroe SenseTrac VS. KYB G2. Both these manufactures I believe are coming soon with Front struts for touring and I would want to go woth something that can be all around.

Cost is not really an issue only Reason (if better) and quality.

Please addvise as to what you all have installed..and why..

I am confused with this statement. How do you cash out a warranty???
Uh, yeah, I'm confuzzed too. It appears the poster is under the impression the extended warranty has some cash value like a whole life policy.
Guys read the Honda Care Extended Warranty Booklet, it will tell you all the info, They will give you your money back if you don't use the warranty minus a $25 processing fee.
I went with sensa trak Monroe as they were available and my last van I used Gabriel air jackers and ride was rough, these ride like stock but with a bit more "gas" to give a little push up. If you could hold both OEM and Monroe you'd see the OEM has about 1/2 the oil (even the non-leaking one) in it and shoddy quality, not that Monroe is anything great. KYB would a performance upgrade I think having had them on another vehicle, generally stiffer. But having done stiff for many years on old van, I wanted a smooth ride.
