windshield got hit by a stone flung up off the road which resulted in a double bullseye. In Florida, if you have comprehensive ins, the deductible is waved when replacing the front windshield. So we got a new one and for the first time, the LDW chimes started working. But here's the weird thing... we put up the reflective sunshield before going shopping and when we got back 40 minutes or so later and fired it up, the LDW and FCW lights were on and there was a message in the odo display to the effect that the camera was over heated.
Took down the shield and after about 20 mins of AC and driving, the message and lights went out and LDW was working again.
Details: The way we usually set the shield has the camera cover on the outside of the shield. I think this magnifies the heat by reflecting the sunlight back onto the bottom of the cover. I'll make sure to put the shield up with the reflective surface all the way against the glass and the cut-out fully along the edges of the cover and not below it. I will report on the outcome of that adjustment. Plenty of hot days left for testing. Although that never happened with the old camera that was glued to the windshield (as is the new one). But since LDW didn't work before, maybe the heat killed the previous camera a long time ago...?

The title should have said "Forward" Camera

is there any way to edit one's own post? Ah, found it... three little vertical dots.

You can fix the title- click the 3 dots in the upper right corner of your post and click Edit. :giggle:
(you can also edit your 2nd post and delete the second quote)

might have been (well probably was) aftermarket glass. Ive had occasions when someone came in to get their camera recalibrated after getting a replacement glass and it would not calibrate at all. It was so bad that they had to get the glass replaced again with a factory glass. Aftermarkets dont always build to factory specification.

That's normal, not weird... The Honda camera does seem to be more heat sensitive than the one in our Volt - but just know now your system is all working correctly.
