Parts shortages close auto plants in Canada
Parts shortages forced Honda Motor on Thursday to close factories in Canada that manufacture Odyssey minivans, Acura MDX sport-utility vehicles and Civic small cars. Trucks carrying parts are delayed 12 hours at the U.S.-Canada border, Honda says. It expects to reopen all assembly lines today and work overtime to make up Thursday's lost production. Meanwhile, DaimlerChrsyler said it was forced to close its Windsor, Ontario, assembly plant for 3 hours Thursday because of a shortage of a single part. The plant, one of two in North America that produce Chrysler and Dodge brand minivans, makes 1,325 vehicles a day.
