Any tips on which LED bulb to get? And where to get them?

Thanks

Here are the pics of 6 kr-030's. Festoon bulb hasn't arrived yet.

The new lights are pretty harsh on the eyes. They're pure white, as others have stated and listed as 6000k. They're about twice as bright as the conventional bulbs. I'm not sure if I'd do this again in a car with a tan interior. It just felt warmer in the cabin before I installed these. I will give them a shot for a few days.

Finally got around to taking pics of my interior. All LEDs are from VLED. I even changed the lights in the vanity mirrors, courtesy lights on the door and license plate. I also changed out the glove box with an LED I had laying around from my Camry but it doesn't work well. The LED itself is on the tip and when inserted, it's covered. Right now, it's dangling which provides light but I may have to modify an LED or just get one of these and just tape it to the top of the glove box:

So to recap what I used;

(6 total bulbs, or 3 pairs of) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HE6DRJE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(1) Amazon.com: Kolite 1 Pcs 31mm 1.25" Festoon LG 5630 SMD 1.5W LED Cool White 6000K 12V 100 Lumen: Automotive

Pricier than an amazon kit, but very well made bulbs and uniform white color output.

I have managed to get all the lamps replaced nicely except for the vanity lamps. I balked at the nearly $30 price for two ($60 total)...has anyone found a less expensive choice for the vanity lamps?

Thanks,

jp
I tried the 5000k vleds for the vanity ($2 each) and holy cow were they bright! Too bright for me or my wife. Even though you're looking at the mirror and not the lights, the placement of the lights cause a ton of glare. Not to mention the vleds have a slight flicker to them. I switched them back to the original incandescents. This isn't a problem on my other vehicle since the light is placed on the ceiling of the vehicle, shining down to your face - not in front of it.

I have the 5k VLEDs vanity (shown in my pictures above). I agree that they are really bright but I don't use the often but I could barely see with the original incandescents. It would be nice to have an on/off switch. My old Camry had a sliding cover. My wife usually opens it a little more than half way and the lights don't come on. If she needs the light, she'll open it all the way to turn it on.
I have this same issue with the vanity lights. I was thinking that rather than having the leds pointing outwards, I could simply flip them over and have them pointing inwards and that way the light won't be as blinding. I'm going to try it when it warms up. Too cold right now to go messing with it!

As for the LED in the glovebox - I didn't even know there was a light in there! Where is it located?

I thought about turning the LEDs as well so it wouldn't be that bright. Haven't really used it much at night to see if it was blinding. Let me know if it makes a difference and whether or not it helps but still usable.

As for the LED in the glovebox, it's in the middle, at the top near the edge. It only turns on when you have the parking/headlights on. If you reach up inside, you'll feel the wireloom and socket base. There is a small cut out that you can feel and that's where the light shines through (you'll know when its dark out and you have the lights on). To get access to the bulb, just twist the socket and it will come out. Now you can remove the bulb. The bulb size is 74.

The bulb I have is similar to this but only 1 LED at the very tip. When inserted back into the "housing" the LED is covered and no light is shining into the glovebox. With the one below, there are LEDs on the sides so it should be shining down into the glovebox opening even though the tip is covered.

#74 LED WEDGE BASE DASH LIGHT BULBS | 1 PAIR - 74 LED - Shop Bulb #

I looked (more like felt) the top of the glovebox and not much room or area to install external LEDs.

ALUMINUM BAR LIGHT STRIPLIGHT 3 CHIP 15 LED - May be a bit overboard in terms of output just for the glovebox. It will definitely light up the glovebox. Tried to find a suitable location that is flat (length) to mount this.

5K WHITE MINI SQUARE 6 LED - This may be the best option. Even though it is small, it will be bright enough. You can mount this at the top of the glovebox since it is small enough (may have to be off-centered a little). You can probably mount this on the side of the glovebox (inside) but may be covered by stuff inside the glovebox.

VLEDs is the only company I know of that has 74 LED base adapter. Otherwise, I would just buy the adapter, solder my own flexible LED strip to it. It may still be doable by just exposing wires from the LED strip of your choice and inserting it into the adapter and taping it off/shrinkwrapping so it doesn't come out.

Thanks, I will go take a look at it when the weather warms up a bit! I have some of those LED's so shouldn't be a problem. If the tip is covered, I may just drill it out same as what I did with the stock floor led's.

Would love to tap into the stock floor leds and put another set in the front seats so the rear passengers get some floor lights as well.

If you mean drilling as in a hole so that the LED will shine, I don't think it will do anything. The LED will be shining towards you and not inside the glovebox unless you're redirecting the angle of the LED location.

I didn't think about turning the leds inwards. I'll give that a try. I know what you mean about the cold as we've had record low temperatures the past few days. It was a freezing 66 degrees this morning where I live.:DD
Just bought and installed this kit from Amazon. All headliner bulbs, driver and passenger door courtesy bulbs and license plate bulbs and trunk bulb. Quick, $15.00 and looks GREAT.

How hard is it change the bulbs out? I don't want to break any of the housings.

They are easy. I used trim tools but you can use a flathead screwdriver and just wrap it with a cloth to help remove the clear covers. College Hills Honda has a video on how to remove them

Awesome. Thank you very much. I will get this done.

66 degrees? I'd be in tshirt and shorts.

Try -5 degrees after windchills :(
Pfft..-5 F with windchills is NOTHING (-20 C for you Canucks). We are -22 F (-30C) with windchills here in the Great White North! 66 degrees is definitely shorts and sandals weather!

Haha, that's actually what I wear every day when I'm not working. I can't imagine the cold you guys go through up there. I've never even seen falling snow in my life - just melting snow on the top of Mauna Kea.

Anyway, I tried turning the vanity leds completely around they were dimmer than the incandescents. So I tried turning them a little less than half way and the brightness was much better. The light is not centered in the middle of the diffuser but it serves its purpose.

So after reading all this thread in a couple of nights I am still confused on whether there is consensus for LEDs that won't be too bluish. I have tried the daylight LEDs in the house, 5000-6000k and I definitely do not like them. Just installed some LED bulbs that come with 3000K colour and I love them.

Is there such a thing (3000K LEDs)for the 2015 Ody interior? I need 8x194 T10s and one feeston for the trunk. Thx
You need to ask the seller if they have soft white LEDs.

There are some warm white led sets listed on amazon and ebay but I wanted to stay away from the cheapo ones with questionable reliability and I wasn't sure what bulbs I needed at the time since I heard there was a change in bulbs between 2013 and 2014. I have a 2015. I bought some 3000k festoon leds for my Hyundai Elantra from superbrightleds a few years ago and love the color and brightness. Unfortunately, they didn't have any T10s in that color. VLEDS doesn't have them in that color either. I did a lot of searching online and couldn't find any quality ones so I decided to go with the 6000k Kolites since its pure white without any blue. It's almost like having fluorescent lights in the vehicle but I like them better than the stock bulbs.

One other thing to consider is the length of the bulbs. I think I remember seeing a 3000 or 4000k T10 somewhere but the bulb looked like it would be too long to fit under the diffuser when you press it to turn it on/off.
