I received the Happy First Anniversary ownership email from Honda for my 2019 Odyssey Touring.

The email included the link per installing the Garmin Map update.

How much time is required for the in-vehicle usb upload of Garmin Maps update?

I’ve read that it can take up to one hour.
Is it possible for the Garmin Maps Upload to be performed while the vehicle is driving?

I’d rather not have the car idling for one hour while the Garmin Maps.

Couple hours to download the maps on the laptop depending on your internet speed then about 30 mins to install. Make sure you have good quality USB stick or else the maps may fail during installation. Let it idle for 30 mins or do it when you are
Going to be driving for 30 mins.

Thanks for the quick reply.
It’s a bummer that the upload to the Odyssey takes that long.
I also read that I should use a usb 2.0, not the usb 3.0.
Yeah, I’ll buy a 16gb Sandisk usb 2.0 which will be dedicated to the Garmin Maps upload.
I know I have to format the usb thumb drive prior to downloading the software.

I’ve never done a map update that takes an hour, excluding the download time from Garmin servers, nor is the van running.

i advise turning off automatic lights, switch them to off.

Some of the older updates were really slow to load, the more recent ones have been faster.

Instead of idling I put a charger on the battery and run the update. At 110+ here it is no fun sitting in the car waiting on the update to finish.
