Hi guys, prospective Odyssey buyer here. Going to try and buy a 2007 Odyssey EX sometime soon and I have a rough sort of plan when I do get one. 3rd row seats fold flat, which is great but the 2nd row does not, probably going to delete 2nd row seats altogether because this thing is going to be used mainly for hauling cargo and towing a trailer. I have tried searching online for a complete, one piece cargo floor liner that covers the entire floor assuming you delete the 2nd row seats, so far I haven't found anything, if any of you guys know where I can find something like this I'd appreciate it!

Probably not going to find one for the entire floor but if you do a search many members have fabricated a false floor to go over the floor.

Try Tractor Supply or Atwood’s for a horse stall mat. Trim to fit. I have a thick carpet removed from bedroom trimmed to fit in the back of mine.

I'll look into making one if I end up buying the van. That being said I work at a dealer and we have CARFAX, so I ran the VIN on this van I got my eye on. I don't see any evidence in the records of a timing belt/water pump replacement at any point and the vehicle is at roughly 151,000 on it. Prev. owner lived in NC and moved at some point. Detailed dealer history shows it's had the updated torque converter done/PCM update, fuel pump and brake master recalls done so first owner took good care of it. Unspecified mechanical issue and towed couple year ago at 126k before current owner ...

From the photos it looks pretty clean, a lot like mine. But it is a bit concerning that everything including the engine bay looks very clean. As if something is being hidden.

Timing belt isn't necessarily a huge deal, you can always get it done after purchase.

I have yet to go see it, that being said I will absolutely be crawling underneath to check for rust and fluids. How likely is it that it's made it to 151k without a belt snapping or being replaced?

Fairly likely. The interval is fairly conservative and the system can often go considerably longer. The first thing to go is typically the tensioner. Listen for a tick on cold start, which would indicate a tensioner on the way out.

If you buy it, make the timing belt your top priority. Nothing but the Aisin kit.
You may want to Factor the timing belt job ($1,000) into your offer.

When I bought my 2009 with 139k on it, i looked through the car fax and since it was always serviced at the same dealer I was able to call them and got more service information, and they were able to tell me when the timing belt was done even though the carfax did not show it.

@HondaGoBrrr Funny thing, I'm in the area and have had my eye on that van too. I'd like to find a 2007 - 2010 LX or EX. Noticed this van hasn't sold; in fact, It's been reposted on CL: 2007 Honda Odyssey - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive...

When I asked about the van's history, he told me: "No, I am not an original owner. I work in the landscape business and my client was selling it. It was supposed be for my wife but she prefers an SUV. Let me know if you want to come see it", and when I asked about the timing belt, he said: "No , they did not give me any records". So not sure how he can claim "Very well maintained", but anyway, with the resources you have, just wondering if there's anything that's been a red flag to you buying it? Thanks!

Really there are two possibilities with this van:
  • The previous owner cleaned it up very nicely to try and hide something major that's wrong (clean vehicle can mask a lot of sins, especially if the engine bay is clean)
  • The previous owner kept it clean because they cared about the car and maintained it well

Update: I am still looking for one to buy and I came across a NICE on with under 100k miles, EX, 2006 MY. I was initially not considering a 2005 or 2006 because of the transmission differences but this one is almost too nice to pass on. Through diagrams/parts interchange I can see there are quite a few internal differences from 2005-2006 models compared to 2007-2010, that being said how MUCH better is the 2007-2010 versus a 20005-2006?

If it's under 100k chances are even if the transmission was neglected a bit it's fine. The 05-06 models are slept on a bit if I'm being honest. The transmission is more than capable both in my experience and in the experience of many others.

From 05-06 to 07 the transmission was the biggest change, maybe a couple minor odds and ends changed in a couple spots but outside of that it's not that different.

08-10 is the refresh so some things changed, but since it's an EX, the engine is pretty much the same.

I wouldn't say the 07-10 is so much better that an 05-06 isn't worth considering. Check the condition of the ATF, if it still looks mostly red, you should be good if the rest of the car checks out.

Another thing that changed is the starter. From 05-06 all trim levels had the Mitsuba starter, for 07 all models had a Mitsubishi starter, and for 08-10 LX/EX models, the Mitsubishi starter remained, while 08-10 EX-L/Touring models got the Denso starter.

No major quality difference there, just something to note.

I am tentatively going in to buy this one tonight/tomorrow, will update if it goes through. Given the climate with cat converter thefts I am very tempted to either shield the underbody or install one of these "delete kits" like here:

Plan would be to keep the old cat in case I need to smog it, based on my compatibility info the Ridgeline years listed on product page use the same secondary cat converter part number, this pipe looks like a direct fit, any feedback here?

My $0.02 would be to slap on an aftermarket converter if you're really that worried about it. Most likely a lot cheaper than shielding options, and thieves are not interested in aftermarket converters as much as the OEM converters. Especially if you leave signs in the surrounding area that make it really obvious that it's aftermarket.

Update on the buy thread: Found one I actually want to get. If it goes through there will be some pictures!

2010 EX w/ RES
non VCM engine
One owner, all records, CARFAX clean
112k miles
Asking $9500
Ocean Mist paint
No accidents, no rust
Roof rack and cross bars

I've seen it in person at shop, even walked underneath with a flashlight and it looks good. They are doing some maintenance and a full detail prior to sale. Financing w/ down payment (in today's market) is reasonable. Going to add a couple things like a hitch and other accessory items that I can still get. For towing there was (at one point) a bolt on ATF cooler, unfortunately through Honda it looks discontinued, any bolt on coolers that would work ok without extreme modification to make work?

We got it yesterday!

Tire Automotive parking light Wheel Car Land vehicle

Here's what I know it needs so far:
  • Passenger side slide door privacy shade, top clip was ripped and it's there but can't be pulled from inside door
  • Passenger side headlight had some condensation inside it this morning, minor but kinda annoying
  • TPMS light stays on, does not flash ... verified pressure on all tires at 34 PSI. Going to try a retrain and see if sensors are ok
  • Going to order wheel locks, rubber floor mats, rubber cargo area cover, salvage yard see if I can find a trailer hitch and splash guards
  • Making valet key for my wife, cut it to master pattern for all locks
  • Shop that sold it installed a Microguard oil filter ... yeah that's gonna be a no for me, just gonna redo the oil change using Honda stuff
Drives great, every maintenance seems to be up to date. It's getting a maiden voyage to the mountains in a few weeks for a vacation and we'll see how it does.
