Im gonna get new tires next week and i have these 3 in sight/mind
Goodyear Confortred Assurance touring
Michelin Defender
Yokohama avid ascend
all three with a $30 difference between them

i have read the Goodyear is a good tire for the odyssey, and the other 2 are new in the market.
there are not many reviews out there for them yet.

what is your opinion?

I am pleased so far with the Goodyear CTTs I purchased last August. Have performed well in all conditions that I have encountered.The major problem with deciding on the other two is, just as you indicated, that they are new to the market and have only a few reviews (if any) out on them. I would Google the exact names (from the manufacurers) of the two other tires (tyres?) and see what comes up on the Internet from other sources. BTW: I bought the GYs thinking that since it is the last US-owned tire manufacturer I would be supporting American workers in addition to getting some good tires for my vehicle. But, when I looked at the sidewalls, guess where they were made? "Oh Canada!" LOL

CTT= GY ComforTred Touring. If I were to refer to the TripleTred All-Season, I would use GY TT A/S as shorthand. No snow or ice in Atlanta this winter. But there are posts from other members elsewhwhere in this forum who have had experience w/ the CTTs in snow and on ice. Do a search and you'll see them. Remember also that both of these tires were redesigned by GY starting in 2010 w/ the ComforTreds so the new versions are different than the previous ones (i.e. CT but no Touring in name, TT, but no All-Season in name for previous versions)

 

I just replaced Michelin HydroEdge with Michelin Defender a couple of weeks ago.
Compared to the HydroEdge, the Defender understeers more and the van seems to lean more on highway ramps.
Straight ahead, it's much smoother, quieter and more comfortable.
Haven't encountered any bad weather conditions yet.

 

i guess overall you liked the change to the defenders?
you had the hydroedge in the odyssey(what gen)?

 

I have an '00.
I suppose it's a matter of preference in terms of tire behavior you are looking for. I prefer the sharper handling of the HydroEdge. But, yes, overall I'm happy with the Defender.

 

im gonna go with the defenders. i was gonna go with the goodyear, mostly because the michelin lx4 were disappointing, but now with these new defenders, i was mostly torned between the defenders and the avid ascend, but both tire shops recomended me the defender(it was the cheaper set installed also...), i have till tomorrow to decide between those 2(meaning if i decide with the yokohama i will have to call the tireshop and change the order..)

 

I ordered a set of the Yokohama Avid Ascend's this week, had a hard time deciding between them and the Goodyear Comfortreds. Anyone else tried out the Ascends? The reviews and technology look promising. I have 46k on the OEM Michelin's and am looking forward to a quieter ride.

 

Are there ANY tires for the Odyssey that will quiet road noise? I can only drive the van on the freeway for a few minutes before I GO CRAZY!!!

 

I had the Defenders installed on my 06 a few weeks ago and have been happy with them. They are quieter than the OEM tires and feel better. Overall, I'm very satisfied with them.

 

Road noise has been a feature of all my Hondas.

 

Mine too! I guess I was hoping for a miracle but I guess that's called a Toyota.
