Hi All,

We booked a GG-L 2002 Honda Odessey in August in the MD/DC area. We were told that we could get the Van by mid December probably sooner.
My husband called the Dealer 10 days ago to find out where we stand and was told that the order will be placed end of November and once Honda confirms that he will notify us.

Yesterday the dealer called and said that they had received a memo that production will be slow during December as the plant will be closed and we will have to wait until End Jan or mid Feb to get the van. Has anyone heard comments to this effect from their dealer?

I am indeed very disappointed and am not sure if the dealer is just playing games with us. Unfortunately we put our name on the waiting list at only 1 dealership.

I briefly considered trading in my 2001 SS LX earlier this month. I used my "new" method of buying cars. I send email messages to EVERY Honda dealer in the area(or use the "Quick Quote" form on their websites). I even send to a couple of dealers a little farther away. I let them know that I will be buying soon. ( I intended to buy a 2002, but changed my mind).

ANYWAY!!

Some of the dealers get back to me that they have a certain model/color available immediately. Soooo, you might want to try that method, and maybe a dealer or two will let you know that the color/model you want is immediately available.

Good luck!!

Hello Neighbor,

Probably the dealer sell your van to someone that willing to pay over MSRP. I had similar experience at Herson and College Park Honda in Jan 2000. They told me I am on the waiting list and he has one available because someone changes their mind. They want $1000-$1500 over MSRP. I bought mine 2K GG LX at Rosenthal Honda in Tysons, VA

that is way too long. I have no doubt that your dealer sold your van out from under you. Especially since Granite Green is the most readily available color. If you do end up getting a van through them, I'd make them eat the $440 destination charge and any other fees plus whatever elso you can get. If you've already made a downpayment on that van it was yours.
