We rarely use our RES in our 2018 Elite, as we haven’t done a road trip since July. Went to try it today while waiting at the doctor’s office, and these are images of what I see if I click Cabin Watch, or try to use the blu ray player. It just sits on the loading screen.

I‘m aware of the service bulletin for the RES control unit, but the vehicle is out of warranty. It’s roughly $950 for a new unit from Honda.

I have had mine replaced under warranty in 2020 because my head unit got bricked when updating Garmin navigation maps.

Does everything else work properly except for the cabin camera? If yes then it’s probably just the camera wire or connector or the camera that has the issue, not the head unit.

Everything works correctly except for Cabin Watch, and the blu-ray player doesn’t work. I’ll have to check for any loose connectors at the RES control unit tomorrow. The van went in for warranty work back in October/September, and they may have messed with things.

Tell them it seems to have stopped working after the warranty work and you just checked it now. They may be able to look at it for you if you talk nicely to the service manager.

I think you may have confirmed something for me by linking to this. When I dropped the glovebox down to look at the module, there was a white wiring harness that wasn’t plugged into anything, and it looks like it fits the male, white connector on the RES control unit.

Will update tomorrow after I take a look. Thanks!

Hope that is what it is... another reason for me to not like Molex plugs/connectors, when you slide them in the female side sometimes you can hear it click positively in place, other times you press as hard as you can and never feel it or can you see it. Perhaps when they did the warranty work on it and may have broke off the tab that latches the Molex plug into place pulling it out.

Well, there’s a gray connector already plugged into the white female connector of the RES control unit. If any could verify if they have the same, male white connector not plugged into anything, I’d appreciate it.

Try swapping the yellow connector for the white one and see what happens?

I made an appointment with the dealer.
Back in the fall, I had them do the Gauge Control Module (recall) update, which requires pulling out the gauge cluster and doing a reflash of the software. There are red and green FAKRA connectors on the backside that may have been damaged.

My blu-ray player just says “loading” and I had it diagnosed by Honda. They wanted to replace the rear entertainment system control module for $1800. I replaced the rear tailgate module myself so o figured I could do this as well. Can someone tell me where exactly this module is and how I can access it to replace?

The RES control module is in the passenger side, upper kick panel under the dash. If you drop down your glove box, like you’re about to replace the cabin filter, you can see it on the right.
