I'm getting my 3 day old ody back from the shop tonight. It's there for what I thought was a steering fluid leak, but turns out it's the transaxle that was messed up. They replaced it and it should be fine. If you notice a pink fluid dripping from your ody, that's what it is. Be careful of this if you notice fluid under your ody.

Now for my pressing issue...

I was told by my salesman that the hood is really hard to close. My van is also in the shop because I couldn't get it closed. Can anyone that has an odyssey attest to the difficulty in closing the hood?? I need to know if this is BS or not. The salesman says he owns an ody and had the same problem the first couple of times he closed his hood.

HELP!!

I have an '01. Since the first day, the hood was pretty easy to close. You mentioned lifting it a foot and it not fully latching.... I'd say that's a BIG problem in my book.

I lift my hood up maybe half that height (+/-2 inches), just like any other Honda and it always fully latches.

No problems on my '02 hood closing... sounds goofy.
No fluid probs.
Try to see if it pulls right on the open road, though. 6 second lane chnge @ 60 mph is permissable, they say.

No pull problems that I could tell on the freeway. Seems fine.

Could this be resolved just by adjusting those rubber bumpers?

Better check our open/close motion. Less than a week old and haven't even looked at the engine yet!

Thanks to all that have replied to this post. After reading the replies about people not having the hood problem, and speaking to someone in my neighborhood with an ody and actually checking their hood (which they had never opened) turns out there's little truth behind the "problematic hood closure". You can bet all your butts that I'll be going over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb when I pick it up this evening.

BTW, I put in a call to the Honda Customer Service center here and they said "The dealer will be notified of the complaint", but what does that get me?! Nothing. Don't waste your time calling them, it doesn't do squat.

Thanks for letting me vent.
