Hi All,

Long time listener first time caller.

I have an '06 Odyssey and unfortunately I've got a parasitic drain issue I'm trying to troubleshoot. Testing the current draw by removing the neg battery terminal and measuring current there.

As is, I get ~1.5A of draw, no wonder my battery is dying fast!

Pulling the 40A "Back up ACC" fuse under the hood solves the problem. From there, I put it back and went to the sub circuits under the drivers dash.

I get the following draw from fuses 5, 6, and 7.

153456

When I pull fuses 5, 6, and 7 the draw is down to ~80mA. When I pull the OBD2 device (Metromile Pulse) for my pay per mile insurance it drops down to 10mA.

I do have the full service manual, but given there are SO many things on these circuits I was just wondering if any of you electrical wizards might be able to give me a head start. I'm competent with mechanical repairs but have limited electrical troubleshooting experience. I do have a new multimeter!

A few things that are possibly useful info:

This is an EX model, no Nav.
New Battery. I replaced the old one, thinking it was the problem. It was old anyway.
Rear DVD doesn't work, haven't done any troubleshooting yet.
The Heat & A/C display doesn't illuminate when the headlights are on, and all the backlighting for those buttons on the right half of the console are out.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer!

Cheers,
James

The two most common causes of parasitic battery drain on our Odyssey’s are the AC clutch relay and the side door rear latch module. The latter is almost always a 0.4 amp drain.

Thanks, I'll check those.

I think it takes 10 or 15 minute for the current to really drop.
I was testing after the car sat for 24 hrs.

How are your power sliding doors? Do they work fine?
They open and close, but do seem like they are hitting some resistance when fully opening.

Is it surprising to have such significant drain on multiple circuits? I was hoping that might point to a common culprit...

And the sliding doors "hitting some resistance" is most likely an indication that your center rollers need repair or replacing.
