Honda Combo CD Changer/Cassette Deck

Does anyone have this:

http://partscheap.com/odysseyaudio01.htm#indashchanger

Is it an add on cd changer for the cassette player that comes with the LX?

Is it an all-in-on replacement for the cd player that came in the EX?

I'd like to have a cassette player with a dash mounted cd changer for my EX.

What do you know?

Thanks,
Eric

We went with putting the Honda cassette player under the EX radio/CD player. Since the 6 disc changer fits in the slot under the radio you would have two CD players and no place to put the cassette! This looks like a better solution for LX owners who want both CD & cassette.
I'm interested in the cassette player but I am also looking for a cd changer and a subwoofer.

In an EX will I have room for all three if I stick with the original am/fm/cd?

Does the LX am/fm/cassette differ from the EX am/fm/cd in any way other than having a cassette?

Thanks,
Eric

The EX will fit the cassette directly under the current radio/CD no sweat - that's what we have. An advantage is being able to keep your steering wheel controls. There is an aftermarket way of using the controls using a programable wireless unit with an aftermarket deck if you wanted to go that route.
Oh yeah, I don't know the diff between the EX and LX units besides the obvious CD/cassette difference. You can see a picture and some general information on the HandA Accessories site.
Perhaps the picture is a little misleading as it shows the CD changer AND the LX AM/FM/Cassette Player. I agree. I would prefer to have a combo like this in the EX instead of my single CD, Accessory Cassette Player, and underseat CD changer, but the EX didn't come that way, and if you chose the route to remove the EX AM/FM/CD and buy the LX unit and a changer, it would not only be expensive, but the steering wheel controls won't work with the LX stereo. Someone tried this about a year ago and posted the results on one of the boards.

My Accord has a single unit AM/FM/Cassette/CD Changer that is the size of the two Odyssey units together, and sounds great. I would like to see a unit like that in the Ody.
Thanks for the info. That's what I wanted to know. Maybe someone from Honda will read this thread and say, "Hey! Let's pop in the unit from the Accord!"

That really is the way I want it.

I'll probably surrender to the cassette with the subwoofer and skip the cd changer.

Thank you.

Eric

My sub is on it's way. I'll post after I install it. Also, on a seperate topic, I described my recent experience installing a third party 10 Disc Changer under the passenger seat.
