Hello Ody Nation! Recently I've been on Ebay and purchased (6) Honda Genuine Oil Filters 15400-RTA-003. Link: Set of 6 OIL FILTERS Fits For Honda ACURA 15400-PLM-A02 15400-RTA-003 US | eBay
$28 bucks total. WOW, what a steal! Well.... I'm not sure anyone can help?
According to the seller, they also noted it can be retrofitted with the 15400-PLM-A02 Filters. So therefore, I bought it for an 2018 Odyssey 3.5 V6 and for a 2017 CR-V LX 2.4 I4. The 15400-RTA-003 filters should be "Made in Japan" as shown on the box. (6 small boxes taped together when shipped).
This is what the filter looks like. Not "Made in Japan" instead it's "Assembled in the U.S.A." Its a Filtech filter and from my understanding, Honda doesn't carry those anymore. (15400-PLM-A01) I never had Filtech filters before and the "C" from Filtech looks off.
The white residue was on all of the 6 oil filters protective plastic cover.
The rubber seal seems and felt well constructed but, it was relatively easy to remove off from the housing.
I don't have any tools to cut open this filter. The inside where the bypass valve is located seems to be poorly constructed as you can see a cut line around the bypass valve and there is glue residue on top. The filter media or pleats seems well constructed and well put together. (Sorry for the blurry picture with the filter media. The best I could do.)
(So far, I have not used this in my vehicles yet. I'm debating to do so on my next oil change.)
Anyone thoughts? With such a low price, I feel like this is a well made fake. Or am I wrong? This should be labeled as a (15400-PLM-A01) Filter. Since Honda doesn't carry (15400-PLM-A01) anymore, I try to find an image or video for comparisons. They look very similar but, the "C" on mines look a little off and the glue and cut near the bypass valve seems very fishy. Tapping on the filter sounds hollow and it feels a bit more lightweight compared to an 15400-PLM-A02. Buyer Beware!
