Honda Truck info

Anyone have info on the rumored Honda Truck (with perhaps GM engine) coming in a few years? Here's a pic from a few months ago:

A GM engine. I would highly doubt that. To quote the president of Honda, "Honda is first and formeost an engine company..."

I sell Hondas and I havent heard anything about a Honda Truck. But I hope they do it, I will be the first one sold at our dealer.

Those of us that don't need a Minivan, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Honda does have an engine exchange agreement with GM. I'm not sure what specifically GM gets but rumor mill says Saturn will be the first to introduce a vehicle with a Honda V6. Honda will get Diesel engines from Isuzu. Will miricles never cease?

Buried in this Autoweek article about Ford's woes are references to future Honda, Toyota and Nissan truck products including Honda's new pickup.

I heard from a friend, who is a manager in a GM Factory, that GM will be buying engines from Honda, for some of there cars.

last I heard, last year, was that GM wanted a Honda V6 to power the next generation of Camaro/firebird (LOL! now they really WILL be muscle cars)

and in exchange Honda wanted a diesel for the European market.

I hate to say it, but the last folks to hear about a Honda truck will be the dealers. They're kept in the dark so that they don't have the desire to say, "Yeah, this xxxx is great, but wait until the xxxxx is out."

After all, for some stupid reason, most cars are bought on impulse.

Honda truck? I don't think I'd buy one. Honda doesn't have enough experience building trucks for American use for my tastes. They do make a killer lawnmower, though.

Brand loyalty is one thing, but, just about anyone would have to admit that GM has had some VERY serious muscle in those F-bodied cars and Corvettes for a long time. The latest generation trucks have some VERY serious power, as well. As for reliability, a friend of ours has a '95 Chevy 2500 w/454, which has 150K on it (around 100K of it towing a 10,000 lb fifthwheel trailer) and he has had virtually NO trouble with it. Yes, Honda is great, but, there are other good things out there, too.......
