Bought a 2008 LX from Honda of Mckinney on June 29th. Dealership kept bragging about being number 1 dealer in TX.

The day after we buy the vehicle we pull into a Braums and barely - I mean barely, rub the curb. I get out to look at the bumper expecting to have scuffed the paint - instead I find both corners of the bumper have about 4 inch tears in them. Upon closer inspection I see the bumper has previously been repaired and about a 1/4 inch of bondo is visible. Yes bondo - not plastic repair.
Whoever repaired this bumper previously did really shoddy work. Didn't even remove the bumper to paint it as there is white underspray underneath on the engine shields, on the lower bumper grilles, and upon closer inspection can feel overspray all over the fender and hood.

My wife takes the vehicle back to the dealer requesting they replace the bumper since it is a " certified " vehicle and we just bought it less than 2 days before. They pull it around and start trying to repair the bumper. My wife calls me to tell me they are trying to repair it instead of replace the bumper.

I end up calling the salesman we bought it from and explaining that I work in the auto industry and know that due to the prior repairs that were done on the vehicle the bumper is not going to repair well and would like them to replace the bumper with a new, aftermarket, or reman bumper. The salesman refused to do anything, so I requested to speak with a manager.

Explained the situation to the manager and he did not want to replace it either! I finally offered to pay $200 towards the repairs if they would cover the rest. Finally he agreed. About 10 days later we take the bumper in to have it fixed. My wife drops it off and gets a loaner vehicle. When I arrive home that evening after she had already picked it up I find that the color match is horrible and we now basically have a 2 tone van.

Extremely frustrated with the results, especially considering I even paid $200 towards the repairs since they didn't want to take care of the problem in the first place. You would think they would have made the attempt to fix the problem correctly instead of just painting the bumper and slapping it back on the car without making sure it was even remotely close to matching.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Experience. For bragging about being the #1 dealer in Texas - they sure don't care about good customer service.

Here's a picture of what the bumper looks like.

Yea. Completely dissatisfied with this purchase. Almost wishing I had just gone with the Toyota dealership across the street. First time Honda owner and I'm already wishing I had stayed with Toyota
Can't imagine why Honda Corporate would want a dealership treating customers this way, #1 dealership in Texas and they can't even get a bumper to match.

Greetings!

I am very interested to get a honda odyssey EX-L 2011 model in Houston area. The only item I would like to add is front window tinted, all season mats and roof rails. Can anyone provide a ballpark amount for this model. Who will be a good dealer in this area. I wrote to four dealers and they are very frustrating. They confuse you more than providing the correct information.

Thank you for your guidance.

possible service recovery

I received an email this week from the dealership. A 90 day post purchase follow up to make sure we were satisfied with our purchase.

Being a generic email I wasn't sure anyone would respond, but I sent a reply with our concerns on the bumper and likelihood that we would not return to this dealership again based on our experience, and I attached the picture I have posted on this thread.

I received a call from the Service Manager within a couple of days offering for us to bring the van in so they could make it right and offered to put us in a loaner while it was being taken care of.

We dropped the van off this evening and everything went smoothly. I also pointed out a few items on the TSB lists that we noticed need to be addressed - i.e - airbag gap on the dash, cv joints clicking, and wind noise on front doors.

Will post in a few days on how the process goes.

I am in the midst of researching for Honda Odyssey. Gillman dealers Houston are very misleading and confusing. Please aware of this dealer.

Thank you

Try the "prices paid for a 2011 thread", rather than trying to get 2011 pricing info in a thread about bumper color on a 3 year old van.

Service manager at Honda McKinney came through. They offered to redo the bumper. Picked it up today and looks much better. Very happy they corrected the issues. Based on dealings with the service department and their willingness to correct the issue; willing to give them a 2nd shot.
Still not sure I would deal with used car department but definitely would recommend the service department.

Yeh, I would also vouch for the service department. They have always been stand up with their service and work. I'm surprised that their used car dealers are so inept.
