open the lid and it's an abyss. forget about finding anything small down there like a pen or post it pad. i assume it's that way to accommodate ladies' purses and i appreciate the amount of storage but i've got find a way to organize that space.

what have y'all been doing?

You're right...Everything is lost down there! I have some kleenex, hand cream, canada, CDs/DVDs, seat latch covers and some other stuff and they are all somewhere in the bottom.

How about some storage boxes from Ikea? The smallest ones from each set may work?

IKEA | Clothes & shoes organizers | Clothes organizers | SKUBB | Storage box, set of 6

IKEA | Paper & media organizers | Paper & media boxes | MOTORP | Box with lid, set of 3

you're right Canada fits quite well in there :)

I just put the 2 wireless headphones and a box of kleenex in there. The wife has one of those tiny purses so she just sets it ontop of the center console.

small square box of kleenex, hand lotion, couple of juice boxes, couple of GoGo Squeeze applesauces, container of yogurt nibbles, our coupon/gift card/savings card container, bottle of water, bag of pretzels/adult snack.

basically, snacks for my wife, snacks for the kids, and the misc. stuff that we always need/want to have when we're out.

owner's manuals in the actual glove box, normally a can of coke and another bottle of water in the cool box. pens in the driver's side small door pocket. nothing in the pull out tray. roadside emergency stuff in the trays/bins to the left of the tailgate. shopping bags in the cargo net.

I keep a plastic container with Ritz crackers in there (my emergency stash for the kids), a box of Kleenex, a small thing of hand lotion and 2 coupon organizers and 1 reusable bag.

I still carry a diaper bag, so it's way to big to fit in there. It goes on the passenger seat.

I'm still trying to decide if I like it better than the flip up console of the last gen or not. We have an infant seat in the middle row middle seat, so I can't climb back there anymore, so right now it's not a factor. But when the baby starts to forward face later on, I might feel different.

A very simple, cheap, and often overlooked solution is just using a myriad of different sized ziplock bags. You can group together like items, easily see what's inside the bags, and it's easier to pick through a set of 5-6 bags vs 20-30 individual items. Plus, the self molding bags fit better in the odd shaped interior of the center console.

Honda should have made the center console the cool box with a front opening tilt (or open to the second row), give the center cubby back. We pile too much stuff on the center console for it to be convenient to open. Maybe technologically infeasible with the console removable, but I understand Honda still has engineers.
