I have a 2008 EX-L with less than 10,000 miles, have two weeks left on the warranty. I took it in to the dealer because the drivers side seat heater is always on (my seat is very hot) even when the switch shows that it is off. Of course, the dealer says "we can't replicate the problem" and sends me on my way. Rather than deal with them again, is there a way to disable the seat heater?

Unplug it under the seat. Look for the plug coming out of the seat cover.

Seems like it would be an easy problem to replicate to me.

Thank you, unplugging it is a great idea. Didn't know I could do that. Yeah, I guess because it's summer and 85 degrees out the person that drove it just assumed his back was getting hot because of the heat outside. It's weird, the heat that it puts out is just about the same as when the switch is turned on to "Low", but it doesn't do it all the time.

Pull the fuse.
Pulling the fuse was my first idea, but when I took it to the dealer I told them "I don't really care if you fix the seat heater, I can just pull the fuse if you tell me which one"...to which the service manager replied "There is no fuse for it". I found that hard to believe, but believe I did.

Can you tell me which fuse, or does the fusebox door label them?

Thanks!

I do not know the fuse on a 2008. Best to look in the Owner's Manual. It will be in there. If the fuse is shared with another circuit - stick with unplugging the harness under the seat.

I would still try to find a fix to this. Try another dealer before warranty expires?

Thank you, it was displayed very plainly in the owner's manual, and there is one fuse each that are dedicated to the drivers and the passengers seat heaters. Man, I need to find a new dealer...how could these people be so clueless??

Service Advisors are admonished for assisting customers with their own repairs or diagnosis or *anything* that could be construed as assistance from the dealer or Honda in the event of any liability.

Or, they were selling shoes at Sears last week and decided to endeavour into the automotive business on Monday. :D

I'm amazed an 08 has under 10,000 miles.
