I'm wondering how many miles the typical Ody driver drives a year. We drive a lot... about 24K a year. I'm wondering how our high mileage driving will affect the value of our car at the end of 5 years... which is about how long we plan to keep it. Our TE we got at the end of May has 7300 miles on it right now.

I have a very short commute, about 10 miles round trip. We may also take one or two 1,000 mile round trip vacations per year. This yields about 12K/year on my vehicles.

I go upwards of 30,000 miles a year. My Ody was bought in March of 2006, so its about 5 and a half years old with 123,000 miles. It had a few easy years at the beginning of its life. Some of the people on here go over 50,000 though. I can think of one in Ohio and one in DC.

I put on roughly 15,000 miles a year. I plan on keeping this van for 10 years, so I should have 150,000 on it when I am done.

My '02 was a solid 12k per year. My '11 is on track for about 15k since the wife now works full time. I want the mileage to merry up with the 8/120 extended warranty.

We average about 35,000km/yr (about 22,000 miles/yr), part of the reason we chose to purchase rather than lease.

The wife drives it daily and puts most of the 30K miles per year on. As for depreciation with high mileage this is the outcome with the 06' EXL RES.

06' EXL RES purchased new in July 2006 for $28500 not including TTL. Sold in July 2011 to private party for $12K with 154K miles. All maintenance was done by Honda so we had all records for it and the van was in good condition with no mechanical issues. Body had a few scrapes and door dings. Was offered $8500 trade in from a couple of dealers.

We were happy with the result,

we don't drive our cars much at all, we have our Odyssey for almost a year, and we have around 8000 miles on it. This includes 2x1000mile trips.
Our other car was driven approximately 4500miles last year.

Since 08/1999 have driven 263,775 miles in 1999 EX. As second tranny malfunctioned 1000 miles from home, on 09/14 traded (whopping $500) it to nearest Honda dealer and bought new 2011 EX-L (no Nav no RES). After 1200 miles am very pleased so far.
In the previous 36 years have owned 3 vans one-at-a-time and all bought new and driven for 12 years each. 1975 Dodge ($4500), 1987 GMC Safari(clone of Chevy Astro) ($17,000), and 1999 Ody EX (about $27,000 if I recall). The GM was the mileage champ at 298,000 and still had the orginal tranny when I sold it to an individual. 8 years later he returned to my home to share with my wife the good news that he was still driving it (I was not home).

So I was appalled at the 1999 Ody tranny. It gave serious problems at about 100,000 miles. I discovered that a good transmission flush made those problems vanish (evidently flushed out metal particles blocking inner channels). After first flush those problems did not return for 20,000 miles. But by 164,000 miles it was almost impossible to flush effectively and I think my last flush worked for under 100 miles. So bought remanufactured tranny from Jasper which produced similar problems at about 100,000 miles. My 12-year attention span had elapsed, so it was time to get my 4th van, the 2011 EX-L.
