Hi all..2000lx..I need to replace the radiator fan ( passenger side) . Has anyone done this ? It seems it could be removed from the the bottom or do I remove from top after flexing the radiator and condenser forward and out of the way?

rad fan

Thanks for your reply..I thought the rad fan was on the passenger side. The reason is that when I start the vehicle , lets say for the first time of the day and turn on the a/c ,the drivers side fan will run and cycles on and off so I assume that the drivers side was the condenser fan since it works with the a/c. Thanks for the link.

rad fan removal 2000lx

I went to autozones site and their instructions for removal recommends , for the most part , requires removal of the battery and tray and then unbolting the fans and sliding them to the drivers side for removal

rad fan/condenser fan?

I think you are right..I went to a dealers website and saw both fans and they look different ..I had a fender bender couple years ago and I dont think the repair shop could have messed up as the top mounting tabs are not the same. The upper rad support bracket had to be replaced also.In any case the drivers side is the rad and passenger side the a/c condenser fan it seems .I stand corrected. Strange though that the rad fan comes on when the a/c is turned on , perhaps if the condenser fan were working it too would come on. .... Follow up......over the weekend I was able to see a friends odyssey and indeed both fans run when the car was started with a/c on. I have since ordered the correct condenser fan . I tested the condenser fan directly from the battery and it didi not work..I believe this explain the seemingly lack of a/c cooling effeicieny when I am stopped .

Fixed!

Today I replaced the condenser fan...what a PITA...initially. According to autozones web site ..to remove the condensor fan it was necessarry to remove the radistor fan first..This entailed removing the battery and its casing , undo the many harnesses out of the way , the central pillar from the radiator mount and sliding the fan units out by way of the space created by removing the battery..what a pain that was. Dont do it that way !!! I almost ruined my radiator !! I got the radiator fan out this way but when I tried to do the condenser fan and since the shroud was all metal I began to think twice for a better way...soooo here is what I did.....remove the bumper and headlight assemblies, undo the upper radiator hose..now the radiator and condenser can be tilted forward to facilitate the removal of both fans ! There are four mounting tabs for the condenser fan , two upper and two lower..remove the upper bolts but only slcken the lower bolts as the tabls are slit. All bolts were 10mm. The radiator fan (drivers side) has two upper bolts but tabs that fit into a recess at the bottom of the radiator. I did lose some anti freeze ..perhaps half quart. Everything is working fine now..what a day...cheers
