I'd like to relocate the switch for my backup sensors from its present location on the D-pillar to the left side of the dash as it is on the Touring models. What is the best way to run a cable from the left trunk area to the left side of the dash?

Having no knowledge of the 2011, I'm going to throw out an idea anyway for you to consider. The supply to the backup sensors may run through the dash area already. So if you could locate it, you could tap into it from a switch on the dash without disturbing anything else. Then you could disable the backup sensors from both the back and the front.
