I just read my new car is loaded with 'spyware' for Honda & Co.
I would like to turn it off completely, ideally physically.
The privacy notes say:
  • You may opt-out of sending via an embedded telecommunications unit (if installed) your vehicle’s location to Honda or our third party service provider in the event a possible crash is detected.
  • You may opt-in or opt-out of using your connected Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® smart device to attempt to contact third party responders in the event of a crash or other incident.
  • You may opt-in or opt-out of collecting and sending your vehicle’s diagnostic, location, and trip log information to Honda.
  • You may opt-in or opt-out of sending, by use of in-vehicle or smart device based switches/settings, communications data when you pair your connected smart device.
  • You may opt-in or opt-out of sending, by use of in-vehicle or smart device based switches/settings, vehicle or vehicle systems’ data.

The question is, how can I turn off telematics / tracking / whatever they call it, so that the car doesn't connect outbound and share data?

Additional quotes from the owner's manual:
"WE reserve the right at any time and from time to time to interrupt, restrict, modify, suspend, discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the SOFTWARE or SERVICES (or any portion thereof), with or without notice to you,... "

"..may record, retain, and use voices commands when you use the speech recognition components of the SOFTWARE or SERVICES."

"You agree that HONDA and PROVIDERS may collect and use your information gathered in any manner as part of product support services related to the SOFTWARE or related services. HONDA may share such information with third parties, including, without limitation, PROVIDERS, third party software and services suppliers, their affiliates and/or their designated agents,"

"Your VEHICLE may remotely transmit information regarding the status and health of your VEHICLE (“VEHICLE INFORMATION”) to HONDA without notification to you. "

So in a nutshell, I don't want any of the above....how to proceed?
Thanks

Not sure why you really need to. It is nice being able to check the vehicle from your phone and activate features.
Seriously, nobody is spying on you, we aren't interesting enough, we drive minivans.
If anyone wants to spy on you they already have access to your computer and cellphones.
Plus anytime you come in for service and warranty it is going to get connected to the mothership and download data anyways.

What are you talking about? The Twitter Files show how Big Tech abused our data to terrorize dissidents. I agree that Honda ( and all other car makers ) are not ( yet ) part of that Big Tech oligarchy that sides with the Deep State and the regime unity party. I want to be able to turn off being tracked by Honda. GM had to admit that On-Star continued to collect data on car owners even when they discontinued subscription. Oh yes, it is all for our safety that they spy on us. No more.

I think no matter what trim you have they can see your ODY, as they can upload to you ODY updates at anytime you have on your ODY. What ever happened to our privacy rights with this? I thought we owned the Honda after purchase.

Jack rabbit starts?!? Our ODY literally spins its tires if we try to jack rabbit. I have never owned a car before that is so sensitive to the gas pedal. I try to let it start moving by itself and ever so tender on the gas pedal to keep it from shortening the life of the tires, I been honked at by quite a few people wanting me to speed it up. But as a end result, I drive faster on main roads, highways, and Interstates. Residential 25mph.

hello since the widespread use of computers in vehicles started in the 80s there has been information gathered and saved/stored. the amount and types of info has only increased and will continue to do so. you will never get rid of it in more modern vehicles. you can opt out all you want and go to bed thinking you've eliminated the "eyes and ears" but you really haven't and never will. it's better to leave it alone and live with it knowing your being "watched" 24/7/365. this info retained/shared may also help you as an owner someday. try being happy with whatever benefits you can get out of it is my only advise. imo only, of course
