Also, that it says "Genuine Honda" is bothersome. And the barcode being good is a good sign. The only thing that concerns me is the little white sticker. Something about that font reads fake to me.
There are multiple sellers on Amazon. I am assuming that you got the $25 special from the seller MTQ Inc?
AFAIK, the Amazon reviews are for the actual part and the listing is for genuine part. They do NOT separate the reviews up by seller so if a dealer and a fake seller sell this part under that same listing, the review will NOT decipher if the review saying the part was OEM was for the dealer version of sale v/s the fake version of the sale.looking at the reviews, I believe it's a genuine part
good idea… peeled the stick back and covered up the letter so there is no OCR and the bar code underneath comes up with this…Actually, here's a better question: what does the barcode underneath the sticker come out as?
Barcodes can be copied just the same as the part itself, from an original. That would not be an indication it is legit.I think if both barcodes come up good you should be good.
There is a school of thought here which says, regardless of if the PCV is good or bad, change it at around 150K when you do the valve cover gaskets and valve adjustment because the PCV valve gets brittle over time and is a bear to take out once its too brittle and tends to break while removing it causing half or more of it to stay in the cavity. How much time does it take to change the PCV? Once changed, test it:
What are the signs of a faulty PCV valve?
- excessive suction on the oil cap.
- a discoloration or film-like residue forming on the underside of the oil cap.
- whistling noises coming from the engine.
- the emission of white exhaust smoke.
