Barcodes can be copied just the same as the part itself, from an original. That would not be an indication it is legit.

Yes, but 99% of the time counterfeiters do not take the time to do this.

For what it's worth, my Foodsaver will reseal other plastic bags. So, for those with no scruples, one may order an HG part, and a cheap copy. Use the genuine, and seal the PoS part in the HG bag. Return to Amazon, get refund for HG price.
Maybe not worthwhile for a $45 MSRP part, but for costlier......?
