Hi gang. I discovered an oil leak and I'm pretty sure it would be relatively easy to get to and fix. I have attached a couple of pics because I just don't know what this is called. I don't know what to Google or what part to buy or what to look up in the service manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's sits right on top and kind of to the back of the engine. If that makes sense...

I think it's related to the oil pressure sensor plugged in there. It's not the valve cover gasket. So the technical name for that is oil pressure switch gasket?

It's a 2007. Really that's the best I can do with the pictures. It's hard to get in there to see well.

So after going back to Honda today and speaking over things it does appear to be the Spool Valve Gasket. Seems like an easy fix. #12 on this pic. Thanks guys!

Yeah that's what the Honda guy said as well.... If that's the case I'll Gorilla tape, JB Weld and super glue that b*tch shut... Lol....

Should be fairly easy to replace the gasket. Thats why I asked the year of the van because the setup is slightly different compared to the 08-10 vans. These gaskets become brittle and they do a lousy job of sealing the surface over time.

I replaced it earlier in just a few mins drove it around and did the "finger check" and still had some seeping oil. I tightened it a bit more (I don't think I tightened it enough initially I was afraid of over torquing it). I drove it a few miles again and it seemed dry. I will drive it again tommorow and see if that fixed it for sure. Overall it was an easy job.

I might be facing this same thing. I have an oil leak and I do see some oil-like gulk around that sensor.

But I'm seeing a change in my oil level: I have to top up every month or so. Seems like a lot to be a leak just from this sensor. Did you notice the leak in your oil level?

It was not measurable. I didn't even see any on the driveway to be honest.

So annoyed at this point. After changing the gasket I drove it around, still leaked a bit... Tightened it.. Drove it around.. Minor seepage.. Tightened a hair turn more on the bolt towards the front as that seems to be where it was seeping. Drove it around again today and checked the area and there is still juuust a smear of oil coming out. Hardly enough to notice but still my OCD hates that! I'm not okay having an oil leak... Even a tiny one. But Alas. I think this is a situation where I need to quit while I'm ahead. Further tightening might crush the gasket or worse sheer off a bolt. I can't risk that. And it's hardly enough to tell... I'm sure I could take it all apart and start over but with where the leak is I think I'm done working on this project.

Get a torque wrench and tighten it down to factory specs. You also need to tighten it in a certain pattern according to the manual. Did you clean off the old surface well before putting the new gasket on?

So I really need some advice about this situation and I hope someone has the experience (either good or bad) to help guide me... Lol. The seal is still leaking. It's not too bad to be honest and that solenoid gasket will probably NEVER leak real bad since it's not a very high pressure area. The thing is the bolt holes might be stripped. DESPITE my super carefulness. Initially it was still leaking after installing the new gasket. I wondered if I had tightened it enough so I got the torque specs from Honda 16lbft. I borrowed a smaller torque wrench and started tightening ever so carefully when I realized all three bolts don't seem to be tightening. I swear I don't see how this happened. I was really really careful. So, now I have two choices. Leave it be... And just accept that I've got a minor oil leak there. OR go by a helicoil kit and drill it out and put the coils in and tighten it up. The videos make it seem so easy to do (as YouTube videos tend to do). I guess my only concern is whether to attempt it or not. I imagine that if you are not careful you could make things MUCH worse drilling out something like this... I just don't know what to do. My gut says don't worry about it and my OCD says I've got an oil leak I should fix. What are your thoughts? Anyone got any experience with Helicoil kits? Are they easy to use?

Those are long blots or short? I know the v-tec ones were long near filter when I changed the o-ring type screen gasket on the 01.

How bad is it stripped? Not sure if this would work before going to helicoil type but check it out. I was looking at something like this for simple one last week in case I had to repair after stud removal in my toyota. I was able to get away without a mess.

The bolts are on the longer side if I remember correctly.

OK, so after much research I think I'll try this. I'm getting the Loctite brand (had better reviews overall). I figure @ 16 foot lbs of torque this stuff can't do anymore damage than what's done and it's safer than drilling if it works. Thanks!

So, I have to classify this matter as closed / unresolved. I did use the thread repair kit (which I thought was a decent product) and it did eliminate a lot of the play in the bolts. However I was still not able to tighten it more than about 10 Ft Lbs. The specs call for 16 Ft Lbs. So, I think the issue is it's just not tight enough. But I feel like I need to stop before it Strips to a critical point. At this point I can snug it up pretty good but there is a small seeping leak. Alas the joys of owning a high mileage vehicle......
