What are the drawbacks of replacing the resonator with a piece of straight pipe? With the new sound, can I put a Woody Woodpecker smoking a cigar sticker on the van?
Are you referring to the small muffler that is after the cat?
If so, I would guess that it would be a bit noisier but if you are doing to to save $$ then give it a try.
I was grounding out so often due to the low hanging resinator, I cut it out and installed this blue piece of pipe. The cool sound kicks in around 4000rpm. Aside from the van being heavy, the springs are due and the load assist monroe shocks are done.
All in for 25 bucks.
What part of the exhaust are you referring to? There are two "units" located between the cat and the exhaust pipe... one is small... one is large. Which one did you replace?
On my Canadian model, only one muffler type unit between the cat and the rather large muffler. I call it a resinator in my book.
Van sounds pretty much the same.
