Hello Folks,

My light starts flashing like 10 times whenever I start the engine and then it goes away.

If happened after the mechanic replaced the rear brake shoes.

Oil changed was not so long ago. I used fully synthetic oil. I only drove 4000 Miles since then.

It's 137,000 Miles now.

Any clues??

Thanks in advance.

I think the light is on a timer - like thing. Does not have any relation to actual services performed. Check your Owner's manual. You can reset it so it will stop blinking.

The last person to change the oil did not reset it. If you are not using a dealer or Honda specialist, then you will have to learn to reset it yourself. (instructions in the owner's manual. It starts flashing at start up about 6000 miles after a reset. Burns steady about 7500. A completely odometer based maintenance reminder. In the 05+ vans, the "maintenance required" light is set by the ECU and takes a lot more into consideration. (although it needs to be reset)

Thanks for the quick responds.

The previous oil change was done by me

I did not do the reset.

Two Thumbs Up guys! This place is great!

*P.S* egads - I wish I live around you so that I don't have to post in the forums whenever I see the trouble with my Ody :p

Just a thought: If the light wasn't or isn't blinking when service is performed, either by dealer, independent, or owner, who thinks to reset the light?
Can you even reset the light if it's NOT blinking?
Several times I've had the van in for service, had them change the oil, and a week later the light's blinking and I have to reset.

This is the first time I see the light flashing since I bought the van. I already driven 11,000 Miles so far. 2 Oil Changes was done in local repair shop. Yes, it seems they reset it because I've noticed my trip meter went to ZERO. The last oil change was done by me & didn't reset it. So, it's posibble that it gives me hint to do the maintenence.

I will do the oil change again in a few days.

egads - I bought 4 Pints of Fully Synthetic 5W-30 this time. Not 10W-30 like last time. And K&N Oil Filter HP-1004.
Welcome WINTER! :)

Thanks again all!
