So I made the switch from dino oil to Mobil 1 full synthetic (0W-20)when I had the oil and OEM filter changed at 30,000 miles.

We drove 10,000 miles with ZERO added oil. From the scorching heat of Florida, to the freezing blast of chicago winters. Short trips below zero, extended long trips at 85mph (6,000 miles to florida and back twice), hills in Tennessee with a full load, etc... you name it we did it.

Had the oil changed last week at 40K and sent a sample to blackstone labs.

I can't post the exact results at the moment (at work) but they were very good and blackstone recommended extending the next change to 12,000 miles.

Break the habit of feeding the dealers unnecessary $$$ and wasting oil by following the maintenance reminder. It simply is not warranted and is complete garbage.

We went from 100%-0%, I reset it and went to 100% to 0%, I reset it again, then went from 100%-40% before having it reset at 40K miles with the oil change.

Newbie here so don't jump on my too hard. I am the proud owner of a slightly used 2010 EX-L and would like to do my own oil changes and small maintenance myself. I traded my 2006 CRV and always changed the oil on it, cabin air filter, engine air filter and always did the synthetic route and good NAPA filters. I am a little intimidated by the Ody and need to know how/where to gain access to change the oil filter and drain the engine oil. The CRV oil filter was in horizontally above the front drive shaft and would spill oil when removing it and vice versa because I would partially prefill the filter with oil before installing. Any tips, wrench recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Sid

I have an 02" Odyssey, 175k on the odometer, have been using Mobil1 & QS synthetic 0w-20 & 5w20 oil, it doesn't leak or burn a drop of oil. To much concerns with this warranty crap that some of you are brain washed into believing. Using synthetic oil is so superior than using dino oil. It;s not going to void your warranty by no means.
