True enough. I measured the underhood area in a number of locations (where Ody owners have installed aftermarket intakes) using a digital K thermocouple thermometer & probes, and the coolest inlet location is the stock OEM setup.

I think most people are after a "better sound". Throttle response may be somewhat quicker, but you'll be pulling in warmer air anywhere else other than the stock inlet.

BTW, the location where your inlet is located was the warmest I sampled. Other locations more forward were barely a degree warmer than stock; that one in the farthest aft portion of the engine bay was a couple degrees warmer. As you can tell, there wasn't a huge temperature difference, but the name "cold air intake" is a misnomer for many of the other setups.
